One of New Zealand’s largest insurance organisations had made significant progress in its data and digital transformation journey but was struggling to convert these investments into measurable commercial value. The business needed an experienced partner to define a data commercialisation strategy, identify new revenue opportunities, and provide a clear roadmap for implementation.

Solution

Luma Analytics led a design-thinking engagement that generated over 32 data commercialisation ideas through internal workshops, customer interviews, and cross-industry discussions across real estate, banking, retail, utilities, construction, investment, and government. Each idea was refined, clustered, and evaluated against five strategic criteria to identify the most viable opportunities. The outcome was a prioritised shortlist of 20 high-potential data-driven revenue streams, supported by a clear, actionable roadmap for delivery.

Outcomes

Eight initiatives progressed to delivery, resulting in new revenue-generating data products, enhanced customer services, and a scalable framework for continuous data innovation. The programme delivered measurable commercial impact while embedding a repeatable, organisation-wide process for identifying and realising future data opportunities.
